Hyper-V, a key feature of Windows Server 2008, has now released to manufacturing and is available for deployment into production environments. A beta of Hyper-V was included with Windows Server 2008 and the following update provides the final release.

Semantic URL's are one of the things I always wanted to have in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Since the first time I have opened an Internet facing site made in SharePoint 2007 I knew it would be great if the Pages part of the URL could be removed as well as the .aspx extension.

Our companies web site uses a content managment system whose interface is all browser based. Turning the GSA loose on our web site using an administrative account ended up wiping out 85% of our web site's content thru the execution of delete actions from web page links in the administrative interface of the content managment system.
The CMS system we use is built in coldfusion (which we're rapidly moving away from to .NET sometime next year.). These coldfusion pages have buttons / images all hyperlinked to perfrom different actions for content records, content folders, and unfortunately whole web site instances. One of these hyperlinked image buttons deletes the content when clicked, which the crawler furiously did last night.

Today we will release the beta version of Microsoft Producer for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 via our Connect site. This version of Producer works with PowerPoint 2007, Windows Vista, and IE7, and is also compatible with Open XML.
In case you're not familiar with Producer, it is a free add-in which enables PowerPoint users to capture, synchronize, and publish audio, video, slides, and images to create engaging rich media presentations that can be viewed in a web browser.

Protocol Handler.Net is a set of .Net wrappers for the protocol handler interfaces that enable developers to create and deploy protocol handlers for SharePoint search and Search Server.
Developers can index data and documents from any system they can connect to.
Much of the complexity and time around the development of protocol handlers, such as COM interoperability, are reduced and hidden in the wrappers themselves letting developers just concentrate on code to connect to a content source and pull data.
