One of the more powerful tools in user interface customization for SharePoint is the use and editing of cascading style sheets . This article covers several ways to change the styles used by SharePoint Portal and WSS sites.
SharePoint and Cascading Style Sheets: How to update, change and reference
The SharePoint Utility Suite has been updated.
The purpose of the SharePoint Utility Suite is to provide a packaged collection of Tools and Utilities showcasing the rich Object Model that is delivered with the SharePoint Product and Technologies SDK (which includes Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 and SharePoint Portal Server 2003). This package includes code and tool examples that SharePoint Developers and SharePoint Administrators might find useful.

Take care if you are in the market for a new laptop and considering 4Gb RAM.
So you pay a really huge premium (compared with 2Gb RAM) to get 4Gb of RAM ... and so how much memory do you expect the BIOS to make available to the OS. For a Dell M65 the answer is just 3.071Gb.

Response from Dell ...
The processor only has 32 address lines, limiting it to an addressing map of 4 gigabytes.
The chipset, PCI devices, PCI express region, and video cards use some of this map, and the BIOS correctly reports this range as unavailable to the operating system. If the user installs 4 GB of physical memory, then the processor has no way to address the memory that overlaps with these regions, already in use. The chipset directs memory access to the appropriate device rather than sending it to random access memory (RAM).
On Dell's new line of desktops, PCI express uses 500 megabytes (MB) in the map; integrated video takes 256 MB right below PCI express, leaving 3.25 GB of memory available to the operating system via RAM. In some cases, less RAM is available depending on what other add-in cards are installed.
Therefore there is no hardware or software fault with the system. This is working as designed.
Update: A Dell D830 with 64-bit Vista can see all 4Gb.

UK satellite TV operator, BSkyB, have launched a new interactive TV portal called Sky Net. The portal, which is accessed through the phone connection that is incorporated into all of Sky's set-top boxes, currently offers a small selection of the hundreds of third-party Web sites that Sky says have registered for it to date. The sites are provided by traditional Web operators, retailers, non-profit organizations, special interest groups, local governments, and even individuals.
MoreMicrosoft CMS and Artemis CMS.RAPID can be used to facilitate the development of Sky Net sites using WTVML (the XML-based content authoring standard for providing IP-based interactive TV services).

"To take an analogy used by the Commission itself, the fact that laces are sold separately from shoes does not demonstrate that shoe manufacturers are engaged in a tying practice by selling shoes only with laces. One must still consider whether there is demand for shoes without laces."

I thought I would post a blog entry about one of my favorite new features of Office SharePoint Server 2007: the Business Data Catalog (BDC), which enables integration with LOB and other applications by connecting via Web services or ADO.NET interfaces and displaying business data on the portal without any coding.
The BDC is essentially a catalog of business applications that are of interest to SharePoint Server 2007 users, and it bridges the gap between the portal and business applications by bringing in key data from various applications to SharePoint sites, lists, search, and user profiles. The BDC is the key infrastructural component around which most of the other business data features of SharePoint Server 2007 are built.

The
Microsoft Records Management Team are now blogging - that is both the product team and Microsofts own corporate records manager - and will provide both a business and product/technology focus. The intention is that Microsoft own records management requirements will be fulfilled by SharePoint Server 2007 alone and so this is going to be an interesting read over the next few weeks/months.
